The Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project diverts the waters of the Neelum River through tunnels at Nauseri, located about 41 km upstream of Muzaffarabad, and discharges it into the Jhelum River near Chatter Kalas in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, where the powerhouse is situated. The project features a composite dam (gravity and rockfill) with a height of 60 meters and a length of 160 meters. It includes twin tunnels, each 19.6 km long, cross-sectional areas varying from 52 m² to 58 m². The project has an installed capacity of 969 MW, using four turbines, each rated at 242.25 MW. It operates with a gross head of 420 meters and a design discharge of 280 cubic meters per second.
