The E&M equipment at the Tarbela Hydropower Project features Vertical Francis turbines and semi-umbrella type Generators across all units. Units 1-10 turbines have a rated output of 275,000 BHP, Generator of Units 1-10 have a capacity of 175 MW, a 13.8 kV rated voltage, a speed of 136.4 RPM, and an overload capacity of 115%. Units 11-14 turbines have a rated output of 596,000 BHP. Generator of Units 11-14 have a capacity of 432 MW, an 18 kV voltage. The power factor for all units ranges from 0.85 to 0.95.

Turbines for Units 1-4 were made by Hitachi, Units 5-8 by DEW, Units 9-10 by DBS, and Units 11-14 by DBS/SEW. Generators for Units 1-4 and 9-10 were from Hitachi, Units 5-8 from CGE, and Units 11-14 from Siemens.
