Warsak Dam, completed under the Colombo Plan with Canadian funding, was built in two phases. Phase 1 (1960) included the dam, irrigation tunnels, and four 40 MW units with a 132 kV transmission system. Phase 2 (1980-81) added two 41.48 MW units, bringing the total capacity to 243 MW. In 2012, WAPDA planned a 375 MW powerhouse to raise the total capacity to 525 MW.
